New Years in Roatan: Palm Trees and Paddle Boarding

This year I was lucky enough to ring in 2016 on the beautiful island of Roatan, in Honduras.

We spent the morning of new years day lazily sipping coffee on our balcony, indulging in fresh fruit and grilled plantains, all while enjoying the most amazing ocean view.

Later on we headed down to the beach for some paddle boarding and relaxation in the hammocks.

What I couldn’t help but notice is how much more rich and meaningful a moment can be when you are really present and mindful of it. I took in the palm trees swaying slowly in the tropical breeze, the sound of the soft turquoise waves calmly kissing the white, sandy shoreline; the gentle rocking of the hammock and the warm rays of sun glinting down on me.

There was a beachfront veranda standing tall amidst the pristine waters and the odd boat passing us by, disappearing into the coast. It couldn’t have been a more perfect beach day!

What is your perfect beach day?
